In 2003, researchers from the University of Colorado found that the concentration of the antioxidant EGCG available from drinking matcha is at least three times greater than the amount of EGCG available from other commercially available green teas.  It has been postulated that the health benefits of matcha green tea is due to the fact that matcha is made from the whole tea leaf.   In other words, matcha delivers a much higher potency of catechins, chlorophyll, and antioxidants.

Matcha has so many benefits.  By weight matcha contains several dozen times more antioxidants (> 1000 mmol/100g more than blueberries (~9 mmol/100g),  wolfberries,  pomegranates,  orange juice, spinach (~1 mmol/100g) or dark chocolate (~11 mmol/100g). Data from clinical trials suggest that theanine, when consumed by drinking Japanese green teas, may help to reduce or moderate mental stress responses. Lordy knows I need stress relief so I have been drinking my Matcha De Mark Almond Latte several times a week.  Sometimes I alternate it with the recipe below. I have noticed I am not as stressed as usual.  Perhaps it is the matcha!

A study by Kao et al (2000), reported the following: “We found that EGCG (found in Matcha Green Tea)…significantly reduced food intake and body weight.” This highlights how Matcha Green Tea works to suppress your appetite through regulating hormones such as Leptin which tell your brain that you are satisfied and full.  Furthermore, a recent publication by the American Society of Clinical Nutrition found that frequent consumption of quality Matcha Green Tea enhances the efficiency of the human body in utilizing energy. The research showed that the daily energy expenditure rate of adults increases 35-45% with regular consumption of Matcha Green Tea.

Glamamama's Banana Mint Matcha Smoothie

Ingredients
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup Greek yogurt, plain nonfat or lowfat
1 teaspoon Matcha De Mark
1/2 teaspoon fresh mint leaves chopped
Ice cubes to taste
Directions:  Puree all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

My thoughts:  I have tried several brands of matcha and Matcha De Mark tastes wonderful. It has a smooth, fresh flavor that works beautifully in smoothies and other drinks.  We even created a  Matcha De Mark cupcake recipe that came out super yummy. They looked gorgeous too. We whipped up a quick batch of cream cheese frosting and they were heavenly.

Train: BULLETPROOF PICASSO Album Review plus scoop on LIVE 1-hour QVCPerformance #Bulletproof Picasso #O2O

One of my old fave bands is back in the game this fall and concerts are in store for all of us as well. I love Train...a really great band and I was excited to hear that they have a new album out called Bulletproof Picasso. It is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon too. I can't believe this is their 7th album!  I can remember each time they won Grammy awards over the years too...three different times.  Did you know that Train has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide and 30 million tracks worldwide?  Not to mention (okay, so I will!) platinum/gold citations on their mantle, those 3 Grammy Awards, 2 Billboard Music Awards and dozens of other honors and nominations. You have to hear the album’s first single, “Angel In Blue Jeans” and you will remember how amazing they are and why they have won so many awards. I wasn't surprised to hear that their first single from the album has hit the Top 15 of Triple A and Adult Top 40 radio in only a month.  They have had so many great songs and albums over the years that just catch on quickly with fans...for a reason.

I can't believe they have been around 20+ years already.  You have to hear the video for the new song. It premiered on VEVO on July 15th with Danny Trejo, who starred in the Robert Rodriguez-helmed ‘Mariachi-style’ sagas Machete and Dusk Til Dawn, among others. You know Hannah Simone from the hit TV show ‘New Girl?’ She is also featured in the clip.

Bulletproof Picasso was produced by previous Train collaborator Butch Walker. The lead singer Pat Monahan really sums up why the band continues to deliver amazing music and connects with people like me.  Pat recently said, “I’ve always wanted to emotionally connect with people through the songs, but I also want to get into people’s lives with this album. We’re very excited about Bulletproof Picasso and we’re looking forward to performing some of the new songs for all our fans.”  Aww, Pat is so sweet.

Train will be showcasing some of their new tracks in celebration of the album’s upcoming release in September with shows in Los Angeles, New York, and their hometown of San Francisco. Even better, several summer festival and one-off dates have also been unveiled so keep reading!  A few that are definite are Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, CO, Sturgis Buffalo Chip Bike Rally in Sturgis, SD and V Festival in the UK.  They are just all over to share with their fans around the world.

There are so many amazing songs on this new album including the title track, “Bulletproof Picasso,” “Cadillac, Cadillac,” “Just A Memory,” “Give It All,” and “The Bridge” and more. See the whole listing below!  Just a Memory is my current fave after listening to the whole album...I was lucky enough to get a copy so I could listen early. I think this one is going to be a home run....I have been hearing a lot about Train on the radio so I think everyone is excited about it.

Train has a real gift for delivering memorable songs that really stick in your mind.  Their most recent album, 2012’s California 37 spawned the hit “Drive By,” among other songs, a multi-platinum single that reached the Top Ten in 13 countries, adding to the prolific Train set-list which already includes multiple signature smashes such as their Grammy winning classic “Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me),” the chart-topping “Meet Virginia,” and “Calling All Angels.” The band grabbed another Grammy in 2011 for their global smash “Hey Soul Sister,” (the #1 hit and biggest selling single of 2010) from their 2009 multi-platinum album, Save Me, San Francisco.

We spent the week down at the beach house and had friends in and out. One day we had a get together with friends at the beach and I set up my party with the help of a good cooler. I have to say, you can feel the difference with Listerine Naturals Mouthwash..it cleans your whole mouth leaving you with fresh breath...naturally.  It tastes good and your mouth feels clean. Forget those endless mints and gum...that is just covering up the problem.  Listerine Naturals Antiseptic Mouthwash kills those icky bacteria that brushing alone misses!

I've tried a variety of mouthwashes over the years including traditional Listerine and this is one of the best options I have seen on the shelf in a long time.  It is refreshing to boot and I love the fact that they removed some if the unnatural stuff in there. Listerine Naturals is a nice improvement in that the company made some important changes that are a big step forward. Yes, it still contains alcohol, but the alcohol they use is derived from corn. It’s a naturally derived ingredient. They have removed the artificial flavors, sweeteners and ta-da....all the dyes.  Listerine Naturals is crystal clear and tastes fresh.  

I noticed a common preservative in Listerine Naturals that I don't love but I can live with: sodium benzoate. It is the last ingredient on the list so obviously the smallest ingredient of all in the mouthwash.  I would love if they could remove it totally. 

The active ingredients In Listerine Naturals Mouthwash are Eucalyptol, Menthol, Methyl Salicylate and Thymol. Stevia is the natural sweetener too.  Some nice improvements that I love. The best part is that it tastes great...very refreshing. It leaves your mouth feeling clean for a long time too. Let me know what you think.

Deep Cleansing Facial Oil review #Instanatural

Their Deep Cleansing Facial Oil contains a really gentle blend of ingredients that melt away dirt, impurities and makeup fast. I love using this versus the traditional facial wash.
