Soft Scrub® Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser Giveaway and Review

I remember when Soft Scrub cleaners first came out when I was a teenager.  My friend Anne's mom Mary bought it and showed us how cool it was. It was a lemon cleanser that was totally revolutionary.  Before Soft Scrub came out, if you wanted to do any cleaning with lemon you just cut open a lemon. I mean, there was not anything like it! I remember being so fascinated....I immediately went home and told my mom she just HAD to buy this cool new cleaner that Mary had.  Isn't that funny?  I remember it like it was yesterday. Well, now Soft Scrub has done it again!  NEW Soft Scrub® Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser is super tough on stains but still gentle on surfaces like always. If you are looking for an all purpose cleanser or a lemon bathroom cleaner look no further. The new and improved formula has even more whitening power and less residue for better rinsing. That means Soft Scrub® Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser cleans better and rinses faster for you!  I have been using Soft Scrub® Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser to clean the tile, grout, sinks, and tubs in my three bathrooms for the past week now.

I am pretty impressed with the fresh scent of the new Soft Scrub and how fast it cleans. I use a ton of creams and body oils so you know what that means for my bathtub. I need to normally do a bunch of scrubbing to get my tub clean. Uggghh. What a pain in the behind. It has been much speedier and I am finding I am not having to scrub like I normally do to get my tub really clean when I use the Soft Scrub Total All Purpose Bath and Kitchen Cleanser.  It works great in my kitchen too.  So easy for me that I can multitask and use one product to clean up my house!!! I like the fresh scent it leaves behind too--not too heavy just fresh and clean.

You can find out more about Soft Scrub on their Facebook page too!

"It's Not Your Fault" a new book By Steve Shenk Giveaway & Review

Its Not Your Fault image
Can you believe someone telling you right out, "It's Not Your Fault?"  Neither could I!  I just finished reading a compelling new book and self discovery primer by a fascinating man named Steve Shenk. It's Not Your Fault and I Can Prove It  is totally different than any other book you have ever read.  Some of the ideas are very simple, others make you think on them for a while.  All of them are useful in helping you to get to a better place in life.

Steve Shenk met hundreds of people who shared their struggles and triumphs over the years as an executive in the storable food industry. Through numerous heartfelt conversations, he came to understand more deeply about the human experience. Steve realized that our capacity to learn and grow after our basic needs were met was much larger than many of us realize. Steve Shenk's new book, It's Not Your Fault, is going to be released February 22, 2013.

Steve looks at our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves as individual parts of our individual makeup.  He shows us how to grow and strengthen ourselves and reach our goals through focus.  We are introduced early on to The Guardian. The Guardian meets with Michael who has many of the qualities (good and bad) that we all have. Michael  is ready to make changes in his life.  The Guardian shares with us the secrets  to removing the shackles that we have placed ourselves in. It is something that everyone can do when they are ready to do it.  The Guardian  teaches us to stop blaming ourselves and others because it truly accomplishes nothing in our lives. The Guardian shares all the secrets of success, prosperity and a truly wonderful life.

We all at some point in our lives focus on things that cause us to have anxiety, stress, depression, fear, misery and pain.  The Guardian shows us how we can rid ourselves of these feelings and fears and release ourselves from pain and misery. He guides us and steers us in the right direction so we can rediscover the good stuff already inside us like love, happiness, belonging, perfect peace and the success that naturally emanates along with them. Who wouldn't want to do this?

Steve Shenk, through The Guardian takes you through the process of understanding that your life is like a perfectly clean and organized home that just has some clutter in it....clutter that you chose to put in there and you can choose to take it right out and make it neat and tidy again.  Now, not real clutter mind you, but a bunch of mental clutter.  He shows you how to get rid of all that blaming so you can get moving in life.  The Guardian shows you how to stop being a victim and release the past.  We have all made mistakes, The Guardian shows you how to let it go.  You learn that you have the power within you to choose a better path and it is not hard to do!

The Guardian introduces us to The Four Universal Laws:
  1. The Law of Me-taking responsibility for everything that happens to you
  2. Agency-your own choices, your own freedom of choice, your own little business that is YOU
  3. The Law of Justice-recognizing what you have control over and letting the rest go bye-bye
  4. The Law of Creation-if you believe it, you can achieve it. Thoughts become THINGS.

The book is a fascinating and powerful read that you can use to make positive changes in your life. I have already starting working on the accompanying My Book of Life, a journal of sorts to help propel you forward each day in a positive way!  You can learn more about Steve Shenk and It's Not Your Fault and I Can Prove It

Honey Bunches of Oats Tropical Blends Giveaway & Review

Post Honey Bunches of Oats has gone tropical! My friend Rally introduced me to Honey Bunches of Oats a few years ago...it was a long-time fave cereal of her and her hubby. I tried it and got totally hooked. It is more exciting than some of those old boring Cheerios but not junky like a lot of those kids cereals that are out there. Now they just came out with a new version:  yummy Post Honey Bunches of Oats Tropical Blends.  A perfect blend of whole grains with only 120 calories per serving. Not too shabby, right?  Not too shabby, right?  Here are the stats:

10g Whole Grain
120 Calories
6g Sugar (Honey Nut Cheerios has 9g per serving!)
9 Essential Vitamins and Minerals
No Trans Fat
0.5g Saturated Fat
No Cholesterol

The box makes me feel like I am on a tropical island with the sun shining down on me each morning too!  I love tropical fruits so I was really excited to try this new version.  It even looks and smells tropical which is divine this time of year.  It has delicious mango flavored flakes blended with real shaved coconut.  Combine that with coconut flavored granola clusters in the perfect size and you have a great new cereal to wake up to on any morning. It tastes great straight out of the box or with your fave milk or almond milk. I even tried it with coconut milk and that was delicious too.  I gave my little one a snack the other day with a small cup of Greek yogurt topped with the Honey Bunches of Oats Tropical Blends and she thought that was a fun snack.  It disappeared in about 2 minutes. You have to let me know if you come up with some fun ways to use it yourself. Let me know what you think too.

Don't forget to enter the Escape to the Tropics Tropical Trio Sweepstakes from Purex, Outrigger Hotels and Honey Bunches of Oats here.  One lucky winner will be sent on a tropical paradise vacation to Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach! Rainy Day? Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter Fun and cheap kids activities

  •   Send secret messages to one another

That tiny little piece of white paper may look like it doesn't hold any secrets, but your little one knows it says, “Find me hiding in back of the playroom couch at 2:00 p.m. ”  Show your child how to write, send, and decode messages just like a real secret agent.  You can do it using inexpensive household items you most likely have right now.
Invisible Ink Recipe:

Ingredients:

Baking soda
tap water
mixing bowl
Qtips/cotton swabs or a small paintbrush
white paper
grape juice concentrate

Mix ¼ cup of baking soda & ¼ cup of tap water in a bowl, stirring until the baking soda dissolves completely. Dip a cotton swab or small paintbrush in the “ink,” then use it to write a secret message on a sheet of white paper. Once the ink has dried completely (you can use a hair dryer to speed it up with your supervision), your child can brush the paper with grape juice concentrate to make the invisible message reappear. (The message is revealed through a chemical reaction that happens when the grape juice interacts with the baking soda.)
For even more fun, you can set up a message-writing station and a decoding station, with one or more child at each. Very little kids can act as couriers to carry the secret messages between the stations, and older kids can make messages even harder to crack by disguising the words with a code (like A=1, B=2, C=3, and so on).

  • Make a Star Map:

What you’ll need: Tape or glue, black construction paper, cardboard, pencil, glow-in-the-dark paint or ink

Spark a lifelong fascination with the night sky by introducing your child to bright, easy-to-recognize constellations like Orion the hunter or Perseus (or, if you’re up early, the Big Dipper, which can be seen in the morning).
Get started: Glue or tape a sheet of black construction paper to a piece of thick cardboard to make it more durable. Use a pencil to trace a constellation (print out traceable templates at kiwimagonline.com/starmaps), then draw a circle where each star is located, making the brightest stars the biggest (about the size of a penny), and dimmer stars the smallest (about the size of a pea). Use glow-in-the-dark paint or pens to trace the outline of the constellation and to fill in each star circle. Once the paint is dry and it’s dark outside, use the glow-in-the-dark star map to find your constellation in the night sky.
Double-check your child’s work—and identify other constellations nearby—with a stargazing app like The Night Sky ($.99, apple.com/itunes). Hold your phone or tablet up to the sky, and the names of the constellations in your field of view will appear on the screen.

What you’ll need: Tape or glue, black construction paper, cardboard, pencil, glow-in-the-dark paint or ink
Time commitment: 30 minutes
