A little bit about the book:
After having a nationally televised panic attack on Good Morning America, Dan Harris knew he had to make some changes. A lifelong nonbeliever, he found himself on a bizarre adventure, involving a disgraced pastor, a mysterious self-help guru, and a gaggle of brain scientists. for increased calm, focus, and happiness.

My thoughts after reading it: I have tried a few times over the years to do meditation but never really gave it a total go. I have such a stressful career and I thought that 10% Happier was an excellent book on how meditation helped to calm the voices Dan's head and how it can help me and you and almost anyone that is willing to really try it out. You know that voice...the one that says we aren't working hard enough, or that chides us for the stinking cookie this afternoon. This book explained the benefits of meditation in a easier to understand way. Dan Harris started practicing meditation after having a full blown panic attack while delivering the news live on air. After some research and discussions with different people, Dan decided on trying meditation. It is interesting that he shares some of the solid scientific information about the benefits of meditation too.
It actually shows why meditation is helpful even to lower your blood pressure and it could possibly make you 10% happier...thus the apt title for the book. He shares his story and it is funny and serious at the same time. It is an interesting book and it has spurred me to try meditation again....I recently started yoga and meditation would also be a good addition for me.
