Have you heard about this compelling movie? It was only in the theatre for one day last fall but you should really watch it...and now you can since it has just been released on DVD.  Unstoppable is an 2013 American documentary film hosted by Kirk Cameron. Directed by Darren Doane. You remember Kirk Cameron, right?  Such a sweet man who was inspired by the death of a close friend who succumbed to cancer at age 15.  Cameron , who wrote the script as well as starred in the movie has stated that his mission for the film is to answer the question of, "Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?" The film is being made in partnership with Liberty University and was released for a one-night-only screening in theaters on September 24, 2013 as I mentioned.

Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring and hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising question in faith: “Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?”  This is a question that almost everyone asks themselves at some point in their lives.  I know I sure have.  Kirk investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities. UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that pain and suffering has in our lives.  It might initiate you to really affirm your personal views on faith and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope with family and close friends.

What a message this movie sent this past fall too!  In theaters for only two weeknights (Sept 24th and Oct 3th, 2013), UNSTOPPABLE: A Live Event with Kirk Cameron sold a staggering 260,000 tickets and reached a theatrical gross of over $3.2 million dollars. That was a loud message..maybe today's audiences want more thought-provoking and meaningful entertainment instead of the usual riff-raff out there in theatres!

You remember Kirk Cameron for his memorable role as “Mike Seaver.” He was truly a cultural icon of the 1980's.  Remember that mullet hairstyle, those cool glasses, and  fast comebacks? We all enjoyed his antics.  Fireproof, the film was extremely successful a few years ago as well as his recent documentary, Monumental.  Did you know that Kirk and his wife, Chelsea were on-screen sweethearts during their Growing Pains years?  I didn't! They are the founders of a wonderful organization, Camp Firefly, where terminally and seriously ill children and their families are provided an all-expense paid retreat (www.CampFirefly.com). Together, Kirk and Chelsea live in California with their six children. G-d bless their generous hearts!

Unstoppable was released through Provident Films, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.  They produce, markets, and distribute many faith-based films. The company is part of Nashville-based Provident Music Group, which has been one of the world’s leading Christian entertainment companies for more than three decades.  Other films from the company have included Courageous, October Baby, Fireproof, and Facing the Giants. More info is available at ProvidentFilms.org.
