It has been a while and the fans were just starting to get a little rowdy. Mutineers is being released just in time! David Gray just announced the upcoming release of a new album, Mutineers. The record is Gray’s tenth studio album and his first in four years. To mark the news, Gray has unveiled the video for ‘Gulls’, the first track from Mutineers to be streamed ahead of release. Isn't it a great song? I love the video too.
To coincide with Mutineers, Gray will tour the UK for the first time in three years. He is also going to be ALL OVER the US so keep reading for more info! The headline tour, commencing at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on June 23 will include a show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 24.
The dates follow a run of sold-out US shows across April and May and
three sold-out intimate shows earlier this year at Westminster’s
Emmanuel Centre. Additional US tour dates are below if you missed the earlier shows.
Mutineers was recorded
in Church Studios, right in the heart of London, England. It was produced by Andy Barlow (Lamb) who collaborated with him to bring forth some incredible music. The
result is an album that seems to bubble up with joy and fun. Gray steers into some totally new musical territory while still striking a balance with what his fans know and love. David Gray says, “I know
I’ve done something here that has an authority that is inspiring me and I
don’t have to worry about my past or any of that. The lovely thing
about this is we’ve had the time to experiment, and it’s been
wonderful,”
You might recall that David Gray captured the world’s attention with his breakout multi-platinum hit White Ladder. That was the first of three No.1 UK albums. That earned him both Brit and Grammy
nominations. He has continued to build on this fantastic success, with recent
albums Draw The Line (2009) and Foundling (2010), both reaching the Billboard Top 10 in the US. This guy just keeps putting out some excellent tunes that just reach so many people. I have gotten several of my friends into David Gray recently and they just can't believe how good his music is. Check out his Gulls video.
